Samantha has spent several years working with both teens and adults struggling with a variety of issues, including trauma, anxiety, phobias, eating disorders, and depression.
Samantha has specific training in assisting individuals with perinatal and post-partum mood disorders. She is also skilled in using exposure therapy for phobias, agoraphobia, and other appropriate situations.
Since the family is a primary system for youth, engaging the family is often critical for youth success. Samantha is happy to perform family consults and/or family therapy to help her teen clients make progress.
Samantha has experience with clients from various cultures and religious backgrounds. She has worked with numerous veterans and military families as well, and understands their unique strengths, needs, and struggles.
Samantha has helped countless teens and adults work through domestic violence, sexual abuse as a child, sexual assault, and other kinds of trauma. She also has significant experience helping folks recover from combat trauma. Samantha is trained in both Cognitive Processing Therapy and Written Exposure Therapy, which she uses exclusively for PTSD treatment. She has seen tremendous results with both of these evidence-based best practices.
Samantha has worked with several youth and adults, including parents, who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary, polysexual, pansexual, asexual, agendered, etc. As a member of the community herself, Samantha is always very supportive of these clients and is a vocal advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, gender affirming mental healthcare, and gender affirming healthcare in general. Samantha is always very clear that her office is a safe space for all of her clients, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. Samantha is a member of WPATH and has written letters for clients seeking gender affirming surgeries.
If you are a member of the LGBTQIA community, you never have to hide your sexual orientation or gender identity, whether or not this is the issue that brought you in to see Samantha.
